Watch closely, plant for people you'll never meet, and treat the land as a community you belong to.

Irie Orchard · A free garden planner and plant guide for any yard, rooted in a heritage, native & permaculture orchard on the Lake Erie Plain of Northeast Ohio. Organic, simple and resilient. Field photos from a young lakeshore orchard in Lorain County, photographed Nov 1, 2026.

The almanac voice of this site takes its cue from Aldo Leopold's A Sand County Almanac (1949). All writing here is original. General guidance, not professional advice. Indigenous plant uses come from historical ethnobotanical records and varied by nation; they're not medical advice. For local specifics, ask OSU Extension, Lorain County.
